“Strange Radio Listening Post” I Karen Werner I Artist in Residence 2016

Karen Werner: “Strange Radio Listening Post” is a listening lounge for “Strange Radio”, an audio piece crafted from an experimental five-part radio series that was broadcast on Vienna’s Radio ORANGE 94.0 in November and December 2016. “Strange Radio” is an ongoing performance autoethnography about post-memory (inheriting war-related traumas of the generation before), language, radiophonic transmission and reception, and the stranger. “Strange Radio” “measures” the reality of war, displacement, power, family and multiple forms of othering and inclusion with the help of microphones that detect and amplify memories and other inaudible sounds, feelings, and transmissions.
