Wednesday with…#9
Manuel Minch (Artist in Residence)
in conversation with Christoph Chwatal
In the ninth edition of Wednesday with… artist Manuel Minch presents some of the projects he’s developed during his residency in Vienna. The environment of the city and its influence on his artistic production is the main focus of the talk. Therefore, he will compare earlier works related to the materiality of the Internet with his current project “There is no alternative”, in which he explores the afterlife of technological devices. Together with Christoph Chwatal he will discuss about possible futures, the rise of political radicalisms and different ways of facing a possible decline in human life conditions.
Manuel Minch has participated in exhibition projects including “ExoGallery” (EP7 Paris, 2018), “Hash, virtual goes real” (ZKM | Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe, 2018), “Notes on the teenternet” (Lamosa, 2018), “Internetamine” (Inder_espacio, Santander, 2017), “Spamm Power Tour” (Refrag, Parsons Paris, 2017 and Dateline, Denver, 2018). He is the founder and curator of “Internet Moon Gallery“ (2016 – ongoing), a web based gallery in which every full moon a new exhibition project is presented.
Christoph Chwatal studied art history and philosophy in Basel, Berlin, and Vienna. He has published in art magazines such as Art Papers, Flash Art International, Spike Art Quarterly, and springerin, among others. In 2017, Christoph was awarded the AICA (Association Internationale Critiques d’Art) Prize for Young Art Criticism.
