Rebecca La Marre is a Canadian artist and writer. Her activity situates art in the field of language and uses multiple registers of production, spanning publishing and performing. She uses different literary and critical modes to explore the materiality of language – how it affects a person’s ability to inhabit their subjectivity, and how it can limit or expand their ability to be who they are. She is especially interested in finding ways to work with words that facilitates the evasion, negotiation and revision of ill-fitting structures.
She performs throughout Europe and North America, is a commissioning editor for EROS Press and has her publications distributed internationally by Motto, Antenne and Central Books. Rebecca has recently been a recipient of the International Development Fund from the Arts Council, England.
